BradyGlove 2

Project Name: BradyGlove 2

Device: 2nd prototype of BradyGlove, redesinged and enhanced hardware update

Purpose: Medical Diagnostic Tool for Parkinson Disease

Project Goals:

  • Easy of use by the patients

  • No need for cables

  • Comfortable

  • Low cost

  • Web-enabled

  • Precise measurements

  • Track all the hand movements

Features:

  • 3-axis Accelerometer

  • Finger sensors

  • SD card reader/writer module

  • Bluetooth 2.1 module

  • Built-in wireless charging

  • Touch screen frienldy

  • Repairable

  • Mini-USB for data or charging purposes

Basic Use:

The patient wears the glove at home, connects it to a smart device (smart phone, tablet or computer, etc) via Bluetooth and launches the appropriate application. He should follow very simple instructions in order to complete all the UPDRS assessments. Then, he can share all the collected data with his doctor.

The doctor can study the weekly data from the glove as well as the collected statistics and then take decisions about the dosage of dopamine or other drug that might be helpful for the patient.

Benefits:

  • Objective and precise measurements

  • Remote and real-time patient monitoring

  • Meaningful data for doctors

  • Precise drug dosage means less side effects

  • Extention and better quality of life for patients

  • No need for frequent visits to doctor

Other uses:

If we see the BradyGlove 2 as an interface between the human and any machine, we can expand its functionality as a controling device for robotic or virtual interfaces. Also, it could be used as a remote unit for surgery operation.

Development Stages

Final stage: prototype ready for evaluation
